📸 Hands-on Class Project: Mastering White Balance & Color in Photography 🎨✨

In this project, you’ll experiment with White Balance (WB) settings to understand how color temperature affects your images. This hands-on exercise will help you control color accuracy in different lighting conditions.

📝 Step 1: Experimenting with Ambient Light

1️⃣ Find a Tungsten Light Source – Use lamps, ceiling spotlights, or any warm indoor lighting.
2️⃣ Shoot the Scene with Different WB Settings:

  • Daylight WB – This will create a warm/orange effect.
  • Tungsten WB – It should correct the color, making it more neutral.
  • Auto WB – The camera will try to adjust automatically.
3️⃣ Compare the Results – Notice how each setting affects the overall color tone.

📝 Step 2: Experimenting with Flash & Gels

1️⃣ Use a Flash or Strobe Light – If available, place it in your setup.
2️⃣ Apply a Color Gel to the Flash – Use a blue (CTB) or orange (CTO) gel to counterbalance ambient light.
3️⃣ Shoot with the Same WB Settings as Before:

  • Daylight WB
  • Tungsten WB
  • Auto WB
4️⃣ Compare the Results – Notice how the gel modifies the flash to match ambient lighting.

🎯 Goal of This Project

Understand Color Temperature – Learn how WB impacts warm vs. cool lighting.
Master White Balance Adjustments – Gain control over color accuracy.
Balance Flash & Ambient Light – Ensure consistent tones in mixed lighting.
